Ear Wax Removal Microsuction & Irrigation

Safe, gentle and effective ear wax removal by trained clinicians — using microsuction or irrigation, with same-day appointments available at our Torquay clinic.

About the Service

Safe, Same-Day Relief from Blocked Ears

Ear wax is normal and protects the ear — but when it builds up, it can cause hearing loss, earache, tinnitus and dizziness. At Riviera Health Pharmacy, our specially trained pharmacists offer two proven, NHS-approved methods of ear wax removal in our private consultation room.

No more long GP waits or referrals. Walk in with blocked ears, walk out hearing clearly — usually in under 30 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between microsuction and irrigation?
Microsuction uses gentle suction and a microscope — no water touches your ear, making it ideal for sensitive or previously damaged ears. Irrigation uses a steady stream of warm water to flush out softened wax and is great for most healthy ears.
We strongly recommend olive oil drops 2–3 times a day for 3–5 days before your visit. Softer wax is far easier (and more comfortable) to remove.
Most appointments take 15–30 minutes depending on how much wax is present and which method is used.
No — both methods are gentle and well tolerated. You may hear some loud noises during microsuction or feel a warm sensation during irrigation, but it should never be painful.

We offer competitive flat-rate pricing for one ear or both ears, with no hidden fees. Call us on 01803 327304 for the latest prices.

Absolutely — hearing aid users particularly benefit from regular wax removal to keep their devices working properly.
